Raising the Heat
As the temperatures rise heading into summer, so does the momentum at CFPD! The month of May brought plenty of exciting developments throughout the department.
May’s Major Training Focus
This month, our training cadre at CFPD placed a strong emphasis on extrication—the process of removing individuals trapped in vehicles following an accident. Led by extrication expert Firefighter Brian Beals, members spent several days stabilizing and cutting through various types of vehicles in multiple training scenarios.
Team members learned a range of extrication techniques, each suited to specific situations. Beals emphasized that extrication is not always successful on the first attempt, and it's critical to stay persistent—having a plan B, C, or even D until the job gets done.
We’re incredibly proud of our members for their dedication to this challenging training and their continued commitment to improving their skills for the safety of our community.

Zierfuss off Probation

Earlier this month, FF/EMT Allen Zierfuss officially completed his Probationary Firefighter Packet and is now off probation. Allen has been with CFPD for just over a year. In that time, he completed Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and EMT—graduating at the top of his class with a 96% average (not bad at all!). Zierfuss consistently brings a positive attitude, a strong drive to train, and a deep passion for the job. We congratulate FF/EMT Allen Zierfuss on this achievement and look forward to his continued growth and success.
